If you are looking for a peaceful spot in the Scottish Borders - our self catering farm holiday cottages might just be the place for you! We’re always delighted to welcome you to stay in our traditional farm cottages, near Kelso, in the Scottish Borders. The holiday cottages stand at the end of their own lane, surrounded by walks, wildlife and wonderful views, stretching across the Tweed Valley to the Cheviot Hills in Northumberland  Where children can appreciate the simple pleasures of walking, watching wildlife and birds, farm animals and seasons. Discover the special taste of sandwiches on a picnic, or take family bike rides along quiet roads - all are on your doorstep at Hendersyde!

Just two miles downstream from Kelso, we are in a great position for you to explore the Borders, South of Scotland and Northumberland. Edinburgh and Alnwick are only an hour away. The stunning Berwickshire and Northumberland coast, rolling Border hills and charming Border towns, are all within easy reach along quiet country roads.

The three cottages each sleep up to four people, in a twin and double bed room. Baby sitting can be arranged – or supper can be delivered to your cottage door – so every-one has a break! Each cottage has its’ own enclosed, south facing, garden and a shared grass area at the end of the lane, beside the cottages, for a bit more space! There is a Table Tennis table along at the farm, room to store bikes, and a selection of games in the out house.

Facilities in the cottages include: A cosy sitting room fire Oil-fired central heating through-out Coal, kindling and £15 of oil and electricity are included. Colour TV, Free-view, CD/DVD player Broadband internet access Wi-Fi and Plug-in. A radio upstairs and down Masses of local information, maps, books magazines and board games. A very well equipped kitchen with much more than just the basics! Electric cooker and microwave, Washing machine, drying line and use of a tumble drier, Fridge and freezer Garden furniture and a barbeque An out-house for storage of bikes, golf clubs or fishing tackle, all very popular in the Borders! 2 kennels for outdoor dogs, Parking for two cars, Re-cycling facilities - care of the environment is very important to us!

For the active, the Scottish Borders has a great range of activities –

  • World Class Mountain Biking - or beginners trails - at Glentress!
  • Horse riding - along beaches or hillsides.
  • Fishing tuition by experienced guides.
  • Friendly Golf Clubs where all are welcome!
  • Swimming pools
  • Indoor areas for wet days and places to Potter and Paint Plates
  • Boat trips to see the seals and birds of the Farne Islands or Bass Rock. Or the fascination of a glass bottom boat – the Berwickshire coast is one of the top ten dive sites in the world – so there is a lot to see!

West Cottage: is one of three at Hendersyde Farm and the first you come to along the cottage lane.  Sleeps up to 4 people in a double & twin bedroom.

Southsyde:  snuggles in the middle of the cottages. The surprisingly secluded, sheltered, south facing front garden, can be a real suntrap! Sleeping up to 4 people, the double room has a king-size bed. The beds in the twin room can be joined together to make a huge double, ideal if two couples would like to share the cottage. The bath room has an electric shower over the bath. The out-house is great for storing fishing rods, golf clubs and bikes.

East Cottage is at the far end of the lane, catching the morning sun! East Cottage sleeps up to 4 people, in a twin and double bedroom. The bed rooms have their original pine floor boards, with sheep-skin rugs. The other two cottages have fitted carpets in the bed rooms. Power shower over the bath. Raspberries, plums, apples, gooseberries and rhubarb in the garden!

Holiday Reviews from the Owners’ site

Wonderful cottage, very good communication from Sue prior to stay, lovely warm welcome on arrival with freshly baked shortbread. Cottage had everything we needed, from log fire, plenty of bedding, baby cot, microwave to sterilise bottles in ... Cottages in very private setting; close enough to the farmhouse to ask owners when needed anything but not overlooked. Great views, nice garden with seating though weather not the best! Would definitely recommend and would love to stay again.

This has been my 3rd visit to West Cottage, I shall be visiting for a 4th time in early Oct. Would I keep coming back, if not fully satisfied + happy with the self catering cottage??? Definitely NOT. The cottage is warm + welcoming and Sue could not be more helpful. The rock cakes, on arrival, went down a treat. I recommend the Scottish Borders + these cottages at every opportunity. Kelso is a peaceful + pleasant town as are the surrounding towns. If you like walking and are interested in Scots/English history - this is the place for you.
